Mountain Sounds Recipes

Congratulations on finding this page. When I'm packing my lunch for a day in the hills I always think about the many mountaineering tales I've read and the mantra - reaching the summit is only half the journey, you need to save some energy to get yourself back down. I always have an energy boosting sugary reward for those occasions. Usually a choccy bar or some toffee will do, but that's when I'm camping, if I have the chance I like a homemade sweet treat to keep me going. So here are a few favourites, sometimes they need a little bit more time and effort to make, but when you have a bit of a wild day and you have reached for that flask of hot tea or coffee, you will know it was time well spent. So I advise you to pack two helpings and have a wonderful time.

  • Ginger Boulders

It's more like a brownie than a cake. When it comes out of the oven and cools it can set quite hard hence the name 'boulder', but let it stand for an hour or so and it becomes a lovely chewy treat.
